Northern Hamden’s lack of sewers may be holding development back

South of Quinnipiac University, Whitney Avenue is lined with restaurants and shops and is considered Hamden’s central hub. Drive north, past Quinnipiac and Sleeping Giant State Park, and sidewalks disappear a few miles out. Businesses become scarce, and the spaces between buildings start to resemble football fields. Why the void? The answer might have to do with sewers.

Conversations about mental health in Hamden

On Oct. 7 Hamden residents participated in the Out of Darkness Community Walk to benefit suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Statistics show that a high number of callers to the help hotline, 2-1-1, for crisis intervention and suicide are 18 and under. Should Hamden schools implement mental health classes to provide help for those struggling with mental health issues?
