The Student Programming Board postponed its ninth annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 7 because of the snow day. It is now TBA.
At the event, volunteers who signed up will have their heads shaved in solidarity with kids who lose their hair to cancer, supporting the concept that ‘bald is beautiful.
Organizers hope the event, in which students raise money and shave their heads to bring awareness of childhood cancer, will match or exceed last year’s total $12,000 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a charitable organization funding childhood cancer research.
Barbers from Classic Cutz of Hamden will donate their time to cut hair. Food also will be served.
According to their website, "The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives."
