Earth Day Sustainability Fair

  • Quinnipiac University 275 Mount Carmel Avenue Hamden, CT, 06518 United States (map)

Quinnipiac University's Earth Day craft fair is making a comeback.

"I'm so excited," senior Lily Herman said. "I can't wait to see what fresh food will be available to buy. I always love a good farmers market.”

On Apr 20, students and faculty will be able to enjoy a day outside, while celebrating Earth Day at the Susantiability Fair.

Various local shops such as Thyme & Season Natural Food Market, Farmer Joe Gardens and so much more will be in attendance. Food trucks will include Yimello Smoothies, Spuds to Go, Bowl'd Creations and others.

Chelsea Campbell is a student at Quinnipiac, as well as, the founder and CEO of the handmade jewelry company, Shellsea. Campbell is super excited that she is going to be selling her one-of-a-kind pieces at the fair.

“I think it’s great that they put this fair on because promoting artisans this way can be a great addition to any community and creates a sense of support,” Campbell said. " I also think it would be a great idea to bring back the farmers market on a regular basis.”

Campbell usually donates a portion of her proceeds to different charities and organizations. For this year’s Earth Day Fair, proceeds will be donated to World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), in honor of the fair.

There will also be an eco-fashion show and speaker. One student who is also participating in the eco-fashion show is excited that it will be the center of attention.

“Earth Day is important to celebrate,” senior Lindsay Goode said. I've always been interested in fashion and I love making things, so having an outfit I am making out of paper and renewable sources will be really cool. Also, I get to have a girl model it for me, which is really fun.”

The Fair will also feature the Connecticut Environmental Police, plant your own flowers, local artists, vendors selling vintage clothes, handmade jewelry and gifts, natural and organic soaps, scrubs, pottery, knits, crystals and much more.
